What’s The Difference Between Mirapocket And Pocket Sprung Mattresses?

When searching for a new mattress, you may have seen the terms Mirapocket and pocket springs pop up. But what’s the difference?

Pocket sprung mattresses

  • Mattresses that use pocket springs can include anywhere from 800-3000 individual springs that can be spread across one, two or three layers. Each spring is covered in a sleeve or pocket of material to hold its tension.
  • They are designed to move independently and with the contours of your body, meaning the areas where the most pressure is applied, usually around the back and torso, will be supported well. Because each spring responds to your body in this way, they spread your bodyweight evenly.
  • Independently moving springs also ensure that you won’t feel a partner moving around throughout the night too, particularly great for lighter sleepers.
  • Pocket sprung mattresses work for any kind of sleeper as the tension can range from soft to extra firm. The amount of springs in the mattress doesn’t make a difference to how firm it is, it entirely depends on the rigidness of the springs. Generally, the more springs there are in the mattress, the higher the quality is.

Mirapocket mattresses

  • An exclusive spring system that’s designed by Silentnight.
  • Mirapocket mattresses are very similar, essentially featuring the same structure that pocket sprung mattresses provide.
  • The main difference is that Mirapockets offer advanced zoned spring support. This ensures that the upper and lower ends of the mattress have ‘softer zones’ for upper and lower body comfort. The middle zone offers firmer support to ensure the lower back and hips are adequately supported, promoting healthy spine alignment.

Whilst Mirapocket mattresses are fantastic for the level of zoned support they offer, this does not diminish the support provided by pocket sprung mattresses. Overall, what type of mattress works best for you depends on your preferred sleeping position, body weight and a variety of preferences.
