What sizes of wooden bed frames do we stock?

At Mattressman, our range of wooden beds can support mattresses of every standard UK size, including small single (75 x 190cm), single (90 x 190cm), small double (120 x 190cm), double (135 x 190cm), king size (150 x 200cm) and super king size wooden bed frames (180 x 200cm). Depending on the brand and design, the wooden bed frame will be slightly larger than these measurements due to headboards, foot ends and side panels. We also stock wooden bunk beds, perfect for children's bedrooms or guest rooms. Our range of wooden bunk beds feature a natural or painted finish.

What size bed is right for me?

When considering a new bed frame, you should always take into consideration your room's available space as well as your bed frame requirements. A wooden double bed frame is perhaps the most common option as it's likely to provide a spacious sleeping solution without taking up too much room in the majority of bedrooms. For instance, for a children's room or if you sleep alone, you may find that a single wooden bed frame is ideal. Conversely, if your bedroom is spacious and you're looking for a statement piece of furniture, consider a king or super king wooden bed frame. Both a king and super king size wooden bed frame will promise ample room, and when choosing between these two sizes it all comes down to whether you prioritise greater floor space over a slightly larger bed frame.

What types of wooden beds are there?

Natural wooden beds

Most of our wooden beds are made of natural wood, ensuring the greatest durability, longevity and high-quality materials. From oak bed frames to natural pine bed frames, we also have several ottoman options in rubberwood. These wooden bed frames often showcase a homely feel with their traditional style, but many are available with coated finishes to give a fresh, more modern look. Whilst our natural wooden bed frame collection is predominantly aimed towards traditionally styled bedrooms, our wooden platform bed frames are the exception to this rule. Courtesy of the low wooden bed frame design, these beds showcase a minimalist and modern style complementing the traditional wooden structures.

Painted wooden beds

You may have your heart set on a natural wooden structure; perhaps our chunky wooden bed frames that adopt distinctively traditional styles have caught your attention. However, our wonderful range of wooden beds also caters towards those who would prefer a fusion of traditional and contemporary styles. A sleek and modern finish superbly contrasts the wooden structure, culminating in a beautiful range of beds. These contrasting styles are best showcased by our collection of black, grey and white wooden bed frames. In particular, our painted wooden four poster beds are destined to be the focal point for any setting regardless of the room's aesthetic.

I'm looking for a versatile and modern wooden bed frame

Regardless of who you're buying on behalf of, a white wooden bed frame is sure to be a fantastic match for any modern-styled bedroom. The colour's neutrality and understated style means it can seamlessly integrate into a wide array of bedrooms. We therefore find that a white wooden single bed frame purchased for a child's bedroom is equally as popular as a white wooden double bed frame featured in an adult's bedroom. Alternatively, our black wooden bed frame collection showcases a distinctively rich and bold aesthetic which may align with your room's vision.

Other

Our wooden beds that aren't constructed from natural wood are comprised of materials such as particleboard or MDF. These make for more stylised versions of wooden beds that showcase sleek, contemporary looks. Whether it's a wood-effect or solid wood bed frame, you can rely on Mattressman for a durable and reliable sleeping solution.

Slatted wooden beds

Sprung or solid slats?

What are solid or sprung slats? You will surely come across these terms when browsing for a new wooden bed. Essentially, solid slats lay flat across the bed frame, whereas sprung slats have a slight upward curve to their shape. This means that the solid slat provides firm support for your mattress, nicely accentuating a firmer support tension or promoting a firmer feel in a softer mattress. On the flip side, sprung slats provide bouncier support for your mattress, accentuating a softer sleeping solution or supplying a little more bounce for a firmer mattress. Our wooden bed frames have various slat types, so you can be sure to find the option right for you.

I'm looking for a wooden bed with storage capabilities

We stock a variety of standard wooden bed frames and ottoman bed frames here at Mattressman, with varying degrees of storage space available. For a standard wooden bed, underneath the bed is fantastic for underbed drawers or boxes. With an wooden ottoman bed frame, you have ample underbed storage hidden away when you lift the mattress using the gas piston hydraulic system. Similarly, you may want to consider a wooden storage bed with drawers or headboard storage functionality.

What's fantastic about a storage bed frame is it allows you to reconsider what the most suitable bed for your room is. By this, we mean that a bed with integrated storage is likely to free up greater floor space by accommodating your possessions, which could be the difference between you settling on a small double wooden bed frame as opposed to a single, for example. If it's a solid wooden bed frame with storage capabilities that you're looking for, our extensive and durable collection is sure to tick every box.
