With autumn on its way, the evenings are drawing in and the temperature is getting colder, which means you may be looking to purchase a new duvet. Luckily, we have a few solutions for recycling and reusing your old duvet just in time for the change of season.

If you haven’t already re-homed your old duvet, you may be wondering what you can and can’t do with them when they’re no longer fit for purpose.

Who on earth would want your old duvet? Well, you may be surprised to learn that plenty of animal re-homing charities often take donations of old duvets and pillows. So, if it’s time to switch your duvet for a newer, healthier one, searching for an animal sanctuary that takes old duvets may be the best way to go.

If a re-homing centre isn’t an option, then contacting your local council could be a good next step. They will usually be able to provide information on centres near you that can take your old duvet and pillows.

Whatever you decide to do with your old duvet, make sure you have a new replacement ready. Our range of duvets at Mattressman can be found here in a variety of tog ratings and materials, including hollow fibre, cotton and duck feather and down.

If you find yourself feeling cold at night, particularly at this time of year, then it may be worth considering a higher tog duvet. These are designed to be much warmer than their lower tog counterparts, making them an ideal choice for autumn and winter. However, if you regularly feel quite warm in bed, a lower tog duvet could be a better option for you. They also make great duvets for spring and summer as they have a much thinner profile.

Do you have any tips for recycling or reusing your old duvets? If so, we’d love to hear about them.
