Birlea Phoenix Ottoman White Ottoman Bed

Bought the bed at a good reduction on RRP. Assembly took just over 4 hours for me and my husband. From reading reviews we were expecting 2 hours and thought that was a lot! We are not diy-ers and had to keep checking the video online with the paper instructions. Video could have had slightly more detailed shots as we ended up with the headboard the wrong way round at one stage! The video was subtitled and didn’t show not exactly the same bed as the holes in some shots were not in the same places (headboard and push-in only mattress guards at headboard end). The instructions were not in box 1 but we found them eventually, with the hardwear in another. We went with someone else’s suggestion to make up the metal frame first and I’m pleased we did as that rested against the wall whilst we assembled the bed frame. **Watch out for the numbered stickers as we had assembled the headboard (for the second time) and then noticed that a sticker was just visible from under the top rail…….** We were short of a brass washer - we had half of one, one of the headboard holes was not countersunk enough, and the fabric handle could be longer as our mattress is the maximum depth suggested, but we can live with those defects. I happened to add to the storage area the next day having slept in the bed and been lifting to use the storage and found that one of the piston screws had come loose, so I went through each screw again checking for tightness. This was probably our error, but to novices like us, worth checking. There were no surprises having read reviews and scrutinised photos. The bed is VERY heavy, make sure it is the correct final position as you assemble it. Although it was a long slog to do, it looks great, stores what I need and is comfortable. Delivery was quick and without any hitches.

Lovely looking bed, lots of storage space which is so easy to access. Very sturdy and of good quality. I attempted to fully assemble by myself but ended up covered in bruises and needed another pair of hands to help place the slats onto the hydraulic arm mechanism, this part is almost impossible to do by yourself unless you’re very strong! The mechanism won’t close until you place a mattress on top. Very happy, bed looks lovely and great service / delivery from mattressman!

Takes a while to assemble but worth it. Solid bed. Looks good. Storage useful (note one dividing panel and no underneath cover but this isn't an issue). Quite heavy initial part of the lift with decent mattress on top so not for less able. Mattressman had the best price (better than Dunelm) and offered good after purchase support. No need to go elsewhere.

Good bed. Husband managed to put it together mainly in his own. I just helped right at the end. Loads of storage. Bought with a mattress also from mattress man. My only after thought is that once built it will be very difficult to move as there are no casters. Overall absolutely fab!

Nice item, no problem with assembly. Plenty of space on the base. Looks good in white. One drawback is that because the base is in contact with the floor all the way round, you have to have a reasonably level floor, or be prepared to wedge one end.

Lovely shape frame and the bed rises and descends perfectly. With perfect space under the bed for all types of storage. There is no base but that was better than the bottom falling out due to weighty items.
