What types of flippable mattresses do we stock?

Pocket sprung

Most of our two-sided mattresses are pocket sprung due to their versatile and supportive nature. A flippable bed is likely to be sprung because the springs have the same feel on one side as they do on the other. They can include hundreds to thousands of individual pocket springs designed to move independently to provide brilliant body-moulding comfort and support. This is one of the most effective mattress types for promoting healthy spinal alignment. Our pocket sprung double-sided options are more durable than our one-sided mattresses.

Open coil

Often an open coil mattress provides firm support because the spring system is made of a continuous coil, requiring greater tension to contribute to better longevity. Similarly, open coil or innerspring mattresses can offer two-sided support for greater durability. Below we describe which sleepers are best suited to a firmer bed to get a great night's sleep.

What are sprung mattresses filled with?

Underneath a hand-tufted or micro-quilted mattress cover will be either one type or a combination of filling types. Synthetic fillings are hypoallergenic and great for anyone who suffers from a dust mite allergy or hay fever. These include polyester fillings or Eco Comfort fibres, which are found in a Silentnight mattress in their environmentally-friendly ranges.

Our natural fillings aren't hypoallergenic but offer many benefits. For example, they have strong temperature regulation, moisture control, softness, and breathability. These are particularly effective for people who sleep hot. Including organic cotton, wool, lambswool, alpaca, mohair, and silk, you can find the perfect mattress for your needs.

Single-sided mattresses

Hybrid mattresses

Hybrid options make better one-sided mattresses due to the weight of the overall mattress and your weight when you're using the bed. Hybrid mattresses include a comfort layer on the surface of their mattress. If these exist on both sides, it could damage the integrity of the comfort layer, especially when it is resting against the bed frame.

Memory foam mattresses

Due to memory foam composition, they don't make for an excellent two-sided mattress. Whether it's an all-foam or hybrid mattress, if a memory foam layer is compressed by the weight of the mattress itself, it can degrade the structure of the memory foam itself. Therefore, memory foam is much more effective than a single-sided mattress. The case is the same with our collection of gel foam and latex mattresses, which function similarly to memory foam.

What double-sided mattress sizes do we offer?

You can find your dream sleeping solution that fits all bed frames. Our double-sided mattresses are available in every standard UK size. Including small single (75 x 190cm), single (90 x 190cm), small double (120 x 190cm), double (135 x 190cm), king size (150 x 200cm), super king size (180 x 200cm), king size zip and link (2x 150 x 200cm), a super king size zip and link (2x 180 x 200cm). Set our filters on the side to your desired size, shop away, and find your dream mattress for a good night's sleep.

Which mattress support tension is right for me?

Sleeping on a soft or extra firm mattress depends on your preferred sleeping position. Read below to find out which firmness levels are correct for you. You'll get excellent sleep quality and lumbar support on the right bed for how you sleep.

Side sleepers

If you prefer to sleep on your side, a softer or medium mattress is best designed for you. A softer side sleep surface provides cushioning to your shoulders and hips, pressure points that impact the bed most throughout the night. In turn, this promotes healthy spine alignment as you sleep.

Back or stomach sleepers

Compared to side sleepers, people who prefer to sleep on their back or stomach are best suited to a firmer bed because this will adequately ensure proper spinal alignment.

Combination sleepers

Do you sleep in a variety of positions throughout the night? A medium firm mattress is best for you as it is neither too soft nor firm to provide targeted support, no matter your sleeping position.

Are two-sided mattresses compatible with adjustable beds?

Mostly, yes. Our pocket sprung double-sided mattresses are body-moulding, offering the ultimate pressure relief and zoned support. Adjusting a bed frame to the required position means the mattress needs to be flexible. Some of the mattresses available with our adjustable beds are single-sided. However, there are several options available with double-sided mattresses. If you want to purchase an adjustable bed frame and keep your existing double-sided mattress, please consult the mattress manufacturer to ensure your sleeping solution is compatible.
