What sizes of firm mattresses do we stock?

Our range of firm mattresses is one of our most popular support tensions, so we stock every standard size available. These include small single (75 x 190cm), single (90 x 190cm), small double (120 x 190cm), double (135 x 190cm), king size mattress (150 x 200cm), super king mattress (180 x 200cm), king size zip and link (150 x 200cm/2x 75 x 200cm) and super king zip and link (180 x 200/2x 90 x 200cm).

Is this the right mattress firmness for me?

Finding the correct support tension for you depends on your preferred sleeping position. Generally, a firmer mattress is best suited for back and stomach sleepers. This is because a firm mattress firmness level provides more support to keep your spine aligned in a healthy position whilst sleeping in these ways. Sleeping on your stomach places strain on your lower back, so opting for a firm mattress is the best way to provide extra support to your back. A firmer mattress is also best designed for stomach and back sleepers. This is because it can evenly distribute body weight sufficiently and relieve pressure points. A soft mattress firmness would cause back pain when sleeping in these positions. The mattress surface would supply too much cushioning, resulting in your spine resting incorrectly.

Suppose you suffer from back pain, joint pain or hip pain. In that case, consider opting for an extra firm mattress or an orthopaedic mattress instead. This would be the ideal mattress firmness that will provide additional support to combat these aches and pains.

What types of firm mattresses are available?

Traditional springs

Our range of pocket spring and traditionally sprung firm mattresses provide a supportive and stable foundation to get a great night's sleep for many years. Open coil options are typically orthopaedic mattresses, making them one of the best firm mattress types. In contrast, a pocket spring mattress is fantastic for evenly distributing weight and alleviating pressure.

Memory foam

A memory foam mattress as a firmer option is usually combined with a traditionally sprung system to comprise a hybrid mattress. The memory foam mattress layer will conform to the contours of your body shape. Yet you still receive firm support from the pocket springs or open coil system below.

Latex and Geltex

Similarly, latex and Geltex are often paired with a sprung system for you to benefit from the firm support and comfort that these layers offer. Natural latex is super-breathable, whilst Geltex is a gel-infused memory foam known for temperature regulation.

What brands of firm mattress do we feature?

Many trusted sleep brands and manufacturers produce a range of firmer mattresses, including Relyon, Silentnight, Hypnos, Sleepeezee, Dunlopillo, British Bed Company, Sealy, Rest Assured and many more. You can rely on their range of firm mattresses to provide you with the best night's sleep.
