Zero Waste Week: Homemade lemon bed frame cleaner

Cleaning products are everywhere, in their bright shiny bottles, promising us amazing benefits and a clean, happy home. However, glance over the labels and warning signs on the container and you’ll see exactly how hazardous the chemicals are inside, and not only are they harmful to both ourselves and the environment, the bottles also get thrown away after use, clogging up British landfill sites for hundreds of years to come.

It goes without saying that the last thing you’d want to do is use these chemicals to clean your new wooden bed frame, but if not these cleaning products, then what can you use to keep your bed looking its best? Well, in honour of Zero Waste Week, we’ve come up with an all-natural lemon cleaner that can be used not only on your wooden bed frame but also as an all-purpose cleaner for around the home. Best of all, it’s odourless and completely free of nasty ingredients!

This cleaner can be lightly spritzed on a soft cloth and then used to gently buff away marks and scuffs, and because it’s so gentle, the process can be repeated as often as you like.

Ingredients:

1 Cup of Water

1 Cup of Distilled Vinegar

1 Tbsp of Olive Oil

Juice of ½ Fresh Lemon

Method:

Mix together all of your ingredients before pouring into a spray bottle.

Shake well before use and spray a few pumps on to a soft cloth before applying to the affected areas.

Reducing our use of chemical cleaning products and switching to homemade alternatives is a great to way to create an all-natural home and an excuse to have fun experimenting with what works for you.

This all-purpose cleaner is inexpensive to make and the ingredients can be found in your pantry, so it may be easier to prepare than you think. It also offers an effective solution to keeping your wooden bed frame in top condition, and more importantly, it won’t harm the environment.

Sleep well!
