Do beds come flat-packed?

Does my bed come with a mattress?
No beds come with a mattress unless explicitly stated.
What is Memory Foam?
Memory foam is a highly sought-after type of mattress filling, originally developed by NASA in the 60s to support astronauts during bumpy re-entries. Memory foam moulds to the sleeper’s body providing expert support for the shoulders, hips and waist.
Memory foam is often noted as being warm – this is because the density of memory foam underneath you acts similarly to the tog experienced in quilts and duvets. To remain cool, simply use a lighter duvet above you or try one of Snuggle’s CharCOOL mattresses which use bamboo charcoal to regulate the temperature of the mattress.
What are Pocket Springs?
Pocket springs are one of the finest interiors for a mattress available. Featuring individual springs housed in their own fabric pockets, pocket springs are similar to memory foam in that they mould to your body, providing support in the individual areas where it’s required, rather than spreading the weight out over the entire surface of the mattress and hindering posture.
What is Cage Sprung?
Cage sprung mattresses feature a series of springs connected together by a length of wire along the top and bottom of the mattress. This creates a strong and sturdy construction, spreading the weight of the sleeper over the entire construction of the mattress. Although cage sprung mattresses are available in a range of tensions, they are not ideal for those looking for a personal and tailored sleep experience which is easier to achieve with a pocket spring or memory foam bed.

How long should a mattress last?
A good mattress should last anything up to 5-7 years, although each mattress is different. Some of the higher quality mattresses may be usable for up to 8-10 years, and others many more. Low quality mattresses may only last a couple of years.
Naturally, all this depends on how the mattress is used and that its use conforms to our mattress care guide. Mattresses at Mattressman often have warranties and/or guarantees – please consult these before purchasing a mattress.
What mattress is best for a bad back?
No individual mattress is best for a bad back. In the same way that everyone sleeps differently, every mattress is designed for different types of sleepers. Traditionally a firm mattress is best for sleepers who suffer from back problems, but it is important to remember that a doctor is the most qualified person to suggest a mattress. Failing that, a member of our knowledgeable customer services team will be happy to recommend you a suitable bed.

No individual mattress will suit all sleepers, as everyone sleeps in different ways. What delivery options are available?
Mattressman offer free next day delivery across the UK on all orders over £45. We also do a weekend delivery service. Orders placed after 4pm will not qualify for next day delivery. For further details regarding the delivery of our products please visit this page.

Where do you deliver to?

Do you deliver outside the UK?

Can I choose when I want my order delivered?
If the item you purchase is in stock, a drop-down menu will allow you to select your preferred delivery day up to two weeks away.
Do you assemble the products I buy?

Will you take away my old mattress?
Mattressman will take away your old mattress if you live under certain postcodes. To check your postcode, please use the Postcode Search feature at the base of this page. If there is still confusion, please contact our customer services team to confirm.
Do you deliver on weekends?
We offer a Saturday delivery on orders placed by 4pm on the Friday before. There is a charge for this service.
Will you take a delivery upstairs?
Under certain postcodes we will be more than happy to take your delivery upstairs, or place it in the room of your choice for you. To ascertain whether your postcode qualifies, please use the Postcode Search feature at the bottom of the Delivery page. Will the driver call when they are on the way?
